‘Maasaan’ was released in 2015. Several newcomers got their start through this critically acclaimed and much-acclaimed film, one of whom is actress Shweta Tripathi. Recently, in an interview given to Indian media daily ‘Amar Ujala’ on the occasion of the film’s 10th anniversary, the nostalgic Shweta went back to the beginning of her acting career. In Shweta’s words, ‘My heart is filled with joy just thinking that 10 years have passed since “Maasaan”. 10 years means a time when many things change. A child grows up. For me, the moment is very emotional.’ Shweta’s love and dedication towards acting was within her from the beginning.

That was evident in her first film. While reminiscing, she said, ‘Whenever I think of “Maasaan”, I feel happy inside. This film introduced me, highlighted my love and passion for acting. “Maasaan” paved my way. If Shweta of today had met Shweta of 10 years ago, I would have hugged her and thanked her.’ The actress feels that a decision she made 10 years ago changed the course of her career. For this, she wants to thank herself. ‘Masaan’ is also Vicky Kaushal’s first film. Today, he is one of the top actors in Bollywood. Regarding her co-star, Shweta said, ‘Anyone who works with Vicky once will want to work with him a second time. Vicky is not only a skilled actor, but also a great person. Acting means not only speaking your own dialogues, but also feeling the words of others – Vicky is unique in this area. I always want Vicky to be able to work the way he wants to. Because, the definition of success is different for everyone. And Vicky deserves all kinds of success.’ Shweta is not only going to step into the world of acting, but also into the world of production. She said, ‘I want to choose stories that will reach the audience’s hearts directly from my heart. My work should be able to touch the hearts of people from different cultures and countries.’ After a strong start in ‘Masaan’, Shweta has won the love of the audience by acting in several series and movies including ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Yeh Kali Kali Aankh’, ‘Made in Heaven’, ‘Kalkoot’. Her talent in acting and story selection still puts her in a different position. She wants to continue this trend through acting and production.
